Jean-Francois Etuk-Fortier is a Recruiter in Baffinland Iron Mines’ Human Resources Department.
For more than six years, he has been connecting candidates with meaningful career opportunities
within the company.
Born and raised in Iqaluit, Jean-Francois is based out of Baffinland’s northern corporate head office,
where he plays a key role in supporting workforce growth and development across the North. He is
especially focused on connecting Inuit from Nunavut with strong career opportunities, training, and
long-term employment.
Jean-Francois began his career with Baffinland in May 2019 as a fuel truck operator at Milne Port,
gaining valuable frontline experience at the Mary River Mine. Later that year, he transitioned to the
Human Resources department, bringing a practical, on-the-ground perspective to his recruitment
work.

In his current role, Jean-Francois sources candidates for a wide range of positions and supports
them throughout the hiring process. He represents Baffinland at career fairs across the country and
visits schools to share information about career pathways in mining.
His experience and approachable style help bridge the gap between opportunities within the
organization and candidates in surrounding communities, while supporting the people and the
territory he proudly calls home.
