This panel brings together Inuit leaders, policy and security experts, and key partners to discuss how growing shipping activity in Nunavut relates to sovereignty and security. Panelists will explore how Inuit definitions of sovereignty and security connect to safety on the water, environmental protection, economic opportunity, and control over decisions in Inuit homelands.

Panelists will share recent experiences and emerging issues, including where current systems support Inuit priorities and where they fall short. The discussion will highlight what they see as the most urgent actions for Inuit organizations, governments, and industry, and where stronger support is needed so that shipping activity advances, rather than undermines, Inuit sovereignty and security.
